Another Twitter account suspended
by idebunkforme
Another Twitter account has been suspended. @GSpellchecker is currently offline. His account got temporarily pulled about the same time as mine. Is this another YouTube, where creationists who don’t like their ideas challenged falsely flag those accounts which show how wrong they are?
I didn’t realize accounts could get pulled so easily. That stinks!
I had an account suspended also – apparently for sending too many unsolicited @replies or mentions, which seemed a little weak, given that that is pretty much the entire basis of twitter…
The day before the suspension, I had gotten into quite a heated argument with a Christian fundamentalist, so I immediately assumed that was the reason. But after a quick Google search, I was led to believe that sometimes Twitter just randomly suspends accounts for no reason at all…
However, I am not convinced that this is just a faceless software algorithm heuristically suspending accounts, but is instead a more malicious and insidious attack on people with “controversial” views. As you said, I wonder how many clicks of the “report spam” button it takes to draw unwanted attention from the Twitter admins…?
The best part though, was about a month later Twitter sends me an email asking why I haven’t logged into my suspended account and telling me how much they miss me!
